Debit MasterCard Tips
You'll get more out of your ATM or debit card with the following
tips:
Fees & Charges
- There is no fee for using your JEANIESM ATM card
or Debit MasterCard® card at an ATM owned by Columbus
Metro.
- If you use an ATM owned by another institution, you will probably
be charged a fee known as a surcharge. The machine will notify
you if your transaction is going to be surcharged, and you will
have the option to cancel or continue the transaction. You can
avoid surcharges by using an ATM that is part of the Alliance
One ATM network.
- Columbus Metro will charge you a fee if you use an ATM network
other than JEANIE. STAR® transactions are 50 cents
each, and Plus or Cirrus transactions are $1.50 each.
Withdrawals
- You may withdraw a maximum of $400 per account per day at ATMs.
Inquiries
- Like withdrawals and transfers, balance inquiries are subject
to surcharges. You can save money by using MetroWeb
or MetroTeller to check your balance
before or after you use an ATM.
Deposits
- All ATM deposits will be subject to a minimum two-business-day
hold, even if it is deposited into a machine owned by Columbus
Metro.
Debit Card Purchases
- Be sure to record your Debit MasterCard purchases in your check
register.
- If you don't need cash, we recommend that you use the 'credit'
rather than 'debit' option when you pay with your debit. When
you choose the 'debit' option, you could be charged a fee for
using a network other than JEANIE.
- If you do need cash, you can save yourself money by using 'debit'
and requesting cash back rather than using 'credit' and then making
an ATM withdrawal. While you may pay a network fee, it will probably
be less than the ATM surcharge you would pay.
