E-Statement Basics
What is an e-statement?
An e-statement is just an electronic means of receiving your regular
monthly (or quarterly) account statement(s) from Columbus Metro
FCU. Instead of receiving a paper statement by mail, you'll receive
an e-mail notifying you that your statement is available for viewing
online. The statement you see online will look exactly like the
paper version.
What are the benefits of receiving an e-statement rather than
a paper statement?
There are several benefits to receiving an e-statement rather than
a paper statement. E-statements:
-
Save time - E-statements are available the first business
day of the month, up to a week sooner than mailed statements.
Log on and view your statements when it's convenient for you.
-
Fight clutter - A paper statement is just one more thing
for your files (or that pile on your desk), while an e-statement
can be quickly and easily stored on your PC or a disk. If you
need a statement copy for any reason, just print one from your
disk.
-
Provide security - Identity theft still tends to be
a low-tech crime, often the result of bills, credit card solicitations
or financial statements swiped from a garbage can or mailbox.
E-statements mean that less of your financial information is
vulnerable to identity thieves, since you access them through
a secure Internet connection, and only after you enter your
unique MetroWeb access code.
-
Save money - Printing and mailing statements costs a
significant amount of money. When you elect to receive an e-statement,
the credit union saves. Since credit unions are cooperatives,
those savings come back to you as lower loan rates, higher deposit
rates and new products and services.
What will I need to utilize e-statements?
To view your statement electronically, you will need:
-
A computer with Internet access;
-
Your account number and access code to log on to MetroWeb (click
here for an application
for MetroWeb);
-
An e-mail address;
-
A hard or floppy disk (if you want to download your statement
for permanent storage);
-
An attached printer (if you want to print a hard copy of your
statement); and
- The free Adobe
Reader software to view your statement
Is there a fee for using e-statements?
There is no charge for receiving your statements, regardless of
whether you choose to receive them electronically or by mail. There
is a fee for duplicate copies (those already
provided to you by mail or online).

How will I view my statement online?

of the page, click on eStatement (found under the Account
Balances or History options). When you reach the e-statement

it now for free.

quarterly.

Each statement will be available online for four months. We recommend
that you print or save a copy of each statement for future reference.

us an email with "Subscribe" in the subject line.
E-Statement Security
Are e-statements safe?
E-statements are extremely safe because they may only be accessed
through MetroWeb, which uses state-of-the-art security. All data
transmitted between you and the credit union is automatically encrypted
using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology, ensuring the safety
of your personal financial information.
The notification e-mail you receive is not secure. However, this
e-mail does not include any information about your account; instead,
it provides you with the link to access your statement using your
account number and MetroWeb access code. In fact, e-statements may
be even safer than paper statements, which pass through many hands
and may sit in an unsecure mailbox before you collect your mail.
Is my e-statement confidential?
The confidentiality of the account information available on MetroWeb
is protected at all times since only you know your access code.
All MetroWeb transactions and inquiries including viewing
your e-statement require both your credit union account number
and access code. If you believe your access code has been compromised,
you can use MetroWeb to change it. To do so, log on with your current
access code and select Change Profile from the main menu.
Click on the Change Your Access Code link and you'll be
guided through the process of selecting a new one.
